Frequently Asked Questions

  • Preparation is key to getting the most out of your spray tan. Start by exfoliating your entire body beforehand, paying extra attention to rough areas like your knees, elbows, ankles, hands, and feet. If you shave or wax, make sure to do so before your appointment, and schedule any nail appointments at least 24 hours prior.

On the day of your tan, come with a clean canvas. Avoid applying moisturizer, and skip the makeup and deodorant as well. These can all interfere with how evenly the tan develops.

  • To get the most out of your tan, avoid getting your skin wet for 6 to 8 hours after your session. During that time, skip the gym too, as excessive sweating can affect how the tan develops. Once you're in the clear, keep showers and baths brief, and steer clear of hot tubs and extended swimming sessions, as prolonged water exposure can fade your tan faster.

Avoid any exfoliating products, as these will break down your tan prematurely. To keep your glow lasting longer, moisturize with the South Seas tan extender for the best results.

  • No, a spray tan offers no sun protection. Spray tans and self-tanners do not contain SPF, meaning your skin is still fully exposed to the damaging effects of UVA and UVB rays. Always apply a broad-spectrum SPF before heading outdoors, regardless of how bronzed your skin looks.
